We see them and we care

Maasai girls are often left to the bottom of the list of priorities. They have not been seen as individuals with desires that deserve to be listened to and taken seriously. Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) at an early age makes a girl into a marriageable woman, even as young as 8 years old. She will marry by arrangement between a man and her father someone she may have never met, who is the age of her father or grandfather, and usually will have several other wives. She will not be able to attend school. She then will take care of the other wives and their children, fetch water and firewood, and miss home. She may never see her family again. Maasai Rescue Ministries is a grassroots Maasai-led ministry to change this for the girl. Changing a culture takes time, but we are seeing God make change possible for hundreds of girls and their futures! We invite you to explore with us, to pray with us, to support us in our work and to sponsor girls for school. These girls are like your girls, your daughters. Get to know one! Some are orphans, some have been rejected by their families for saying “NO!” to FGM and early marriage.
